Tuan Haji Muhamad Amin Fahmi
Chairman of MIICCI, 2022–2025 term. Entrepreneur and international market explorer.
A self-made entrepreneur and market explorer whose aim is to encourage more Malaysian companies to explore overseas markets through a structured export programme.
He began exploring markets in 2010 with Indonesia, followed by Singapore in 2011 and Qatar in 2012, building a robust business network across ASEAN and the Middle East. Markets he has explored include Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Japan, Qatar, India, Türkiye, the Netherlands and Uzbekistan.
From DPIM to MIICCI
In 2015 he was appointed Deputy Secretary General of Dewan Perdagangan Islam Malaysia (DPIM) by the late Tan Sri Muhammad Ali Hashim, with a mandate to develop an exporters' programme targeting Türkiye and Europe. As Chef de Mission he led the first trade mission to Istanbul in 2016 with ten Malaysian companies. One delegate company went on to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with a Turkish renewable-energy company in 2017, witnessed by YB Dato' Sri Mustapa Mohamed, then Minister of MITI.
He has regularly joined MITI's Ministerial Trade and Investment Missions, including Japan (Osaka, Kobe, Nagoya) and Europe (the Netherlands and Germany) in 2019, and Türkiye in 2017. Those missions showed him the need for a dedicated platform helping foreign companies find the right Malaysian partner before investing. From that two-way need, he founded MIICCI.
Network in Türkiye
His strategic relationships with Turkish trade organisations date from 2016 and remain strong, including GIMDES, the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO), MUSIAD, HAYSIAD, Sakarya Chamber of Commerce (SATSO), Kocaeli Chamber of Commerce, Gebze Chamber of Commerce (GEBZETO), MATRADE Istanbul, Sabiha Gökçen Airport and KOSGEB.
International recognition
- International speaker, India International Halal Expo 2020, Hyderabad, alongside HDC, IIUM and MATRADE India.
- International honorary guest, World Halal Council, Jakarta, 2019.
- Head of Delegation, MIICCI Trade Mission to Türkiye, March 2023, with SME Corp Malaysia, recording a potential trade value of RM1 billion and several MoUs between Malaysian and Turkish companies.
He is committed to driving MIICCI forward and opening markets Malaysian traders have yet to fully explore, creating opportunities for Malaysian entrepreneurs and raising Malaysia's standing worldwide, particularly in the Halal industry.
